Grand Chain Woman Sen­tenced to Prison for Iden­ti­ty Theft and Mon­ey Laun­der­ing

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Melis­sa Renee Car­ma­ck (DOB: 5/12/1986) of Grand Chain, Illi­nois has been sen­tenced to a total of six (6) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions after plead­ing guilty to two (2) counts of Iden­ti­ty Theft (Class 3 Felonies) and one (1) count of Mon­ey Laun­der­ing (Class 3 Felony). Car­ma­ck will also serve a one (1) year Manda­to­ry Super­vised Release. Car­ma­ck was sen­tenced in three sep­a­rate cas­es. An inves­ti­ga­tion by Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Deputies found that Car­ma­ck sold stolen prop­er­ty to an Anna man in Novem­ber 2017. Two oth­er inves­ti­ga­tions by Anna Police showed that Car­ma­ck used stolen cred­it and deb­it cards in August and Sep­tem­ber 2018.
