Alto Pass Man Sentenced to 15 Years on Methamphetamine Charge
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Billy J. Finney (DB 11–5‑1976) formerly of 3200 Bald Knob Road in rural Alto Pass has been sentenced to fifteen (15) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one (1) count of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class X Felony. Finney was arrested in April of this year at the 3200 Bald Knob residence as a search warrant was executed. Police found more than 900 grams of methamphetamine at the residence. The case was investigated by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Murphysboro Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team also assisted with the investigation.
The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
