Anna Man Sen­tenced to Five Years for Aggra­vat­ed Stalking

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Chance S. Cot­tone (DOB 05/13/1969) of Anna, Illi­nois has been sen­tenced to five (5) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions on Aggra­vat­ed Stalk­ing, a Class 3 Felony.  Cot­tone will also serve a four (4) year peri­od of Manda­to­ry Super­vised Release (for­mer­ly known as Parole).

Cot­tone was found guilty in Sep­tem­ber 2015 by a Union Coun­ty jury fol­low­ing a three day tri­al.  Cot­tone engaged in numer­ous acts of harass­ment in April 2015 direct­ed at his ex-girl­friend includ­ing repeat­ed­ly dri­ving by her place of employ­ment and her res­i­dence and con­tact­ing her through Face­book, all in vio­la­tion of an active order of pro­tec­tion.  Cot­tone was arrest­ed in May 2015 as part of an inves­ti­ga­tion by the Anna Police Depart­ment.  The case was pros­e­cut­ed by Assis­tant State’s Attor­ney Heather Heaslett.
