Jones­boro Woman Sen­tenced to Prison

for Aggra­vat­ed Dri­ving While Under the Influence


Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Judy Ann McCann-Stearns (DOB 9/28/1965) of Jones­boro, Illi­nois has been sen­tenced to three (3) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions after plead­ing guilty to one (1) count of Aggra­vat­ed Dri­ving While Under the Influ­ence, a Class 2 Felony.  McCann-Stearns will serve a two (2) year peri­od of Manda­to­ry Super­vised Release.  McCann-Stearns was arrest­ed in Novem­ber 2018 fol­low­ing a traf­fic crash inves­ti­ga­tion con­duct­ed by Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Deputies. McCann-Stearns, while intox­i­cat­ed, drove a vehi­cle at a high rate of speed on State Route 127 North with a pas­sen­ger and crashed into a ditch.  The charge was ele­vat­ed to a Class 2 Felony because this is McCann-Stearns’ fourth (4th) con­vic­tion for Dri­ving Under the Influ­ence.  The case was pros­e­cut­ed by Assis­tant State’s Attor­ney, Lisa C. Casper.
