Jones­boro Man Charged with Aggravated 

Pos­ses­sion with  Intent to Deliv­er Methamphetamine 


Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds, announced today that charges have been filed against Kevin E. Smith (DOB 10-09-1967) of 301 South Orange Street in Jones­boro in con­nec­tion with a traf­fic stop con­duct­ed by Jones­boro Police on Jan­u­ary 3, 2019.  Smith is charged with Aggra­vat­ed Unlaw­ful Deliv­ery with the Intent to Deliv­er Metham­phet­a­mine, a Class X Felony.  Smith is charged with pos­sess­ing more than 15 but less than 100 grams of metham­phet­a­mine in a vehi­cle pro­tect­ed by a firearm.  Smith is cur­rent­ly being held at the Jack­son Coun­ty Jail in Mur­phys­boro on $500,000 bond and will make his first appear­ance at the Union Coun­ty Cour­t­house in Jones­boro on Tues­day, Jan­u­ary 8, 2018.



The Union Coun­ty State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the pub­lic that charges are not evi­dence of guilt.  A defen­dant is pre­sumed inno­cent and is enti­tled to a fair tri­al in which the gov­ern­ment has the bur­den of prov­ing guilt beyond a rea­son­able doubt.
