The Vic­tim Advo­cate Unit of the Union Coun­ty State’s Attorney’s Office is noti­fy­ing the pub­lic that on Fri­day, Jan­u­ary 30th2015, from 2:00pm‑3:00pm an open group dis­cus­sion on Domes­tic Vio­lence and Stalk­ing will be facil­i­tat­ed in the Com­mu­ni­ty Room at the Union Coun­ty Cour­t­house in Jones­boro Illinois.

Stalk­ing, a form of domes­tic vio­lence, is a course of con­duct direct­ed at a spe­cif­ic per­son that would cause a rea­son­able per­son to feel fear. Domes­tic Vio­lence is a pat­tern of behav­ior used to estab­lish pow­er and con­trol over anoth­er per­son through fear and intim­i­da­tion, often includ­ing threat or use of vio­lence. Domes­tic Vio­lence and Stalk­ing will affect one in four women in their life­time and one in thir­teen men in their lifetime.

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney, Tyler R. Edmonds and the Vic­tim Advo­cate Unit encour­age com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers to report inci­dents of stalk­ing and domes­tic vio­lence to your local law enforcement.
