State’s Attorney Alerts Public Regarding Scam Targeting Union County Residence
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds is alerting the public regarding an ongoing scam which has been targeting citizens in Union County. An individual named Justin Cobb claiming affiliation with the “Union County District Attorney’s Office” has placed unsolicited telephone calls to Union County citizens. The scammer is claiming that the citizen being called owes a specified amount of money for failure to appear for jury duty. The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office and other Union County offices do not require sensitive information to be provided over the phone. Similar scams have been reported throughout Illinois and other jurisdictions.
