Sheriff and State’s Attorney Remind Public To Have a Safe Independence Day
Union County Sheriff David E. Livesay and Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds want to remind the public to have a safe Independence Day next week. The Union County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police and municipal police departments will be patrolling for drunk drivers. Everyone who will be drinking is reminded to choose a designated driver. First time DUI offenders are subject to thousands of dollars in fines and court costs, jail time and loss of driver’s license for six months. Repeat offenders can be subject to up to $25,000 in fines, a felony conviction and prison time.
Driving drunk is not worth the consequences. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday – Don’t drink and drive.
