Anna Man Sen­tenced to Prison for Aggra­vat­ed Bat­tery of Police Officer

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that James William Dukes (DOB 09/25/1988) of Anna has been sen­tenced to three (3) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions with an impact incar­cer­a­tion rec­om­men­da­tion on one (1) count of Aggra­vat­ed Bat­tery, a Class 2 Felony.  Dukes will serve a two (2) year peri­od of Manda­to­ry Super­vised Release.  In July 2017, Anna Police respond­ed to a dis­tur­bance in the 400 block of West Jef­fer­son Street.  After being arrest­ed, Dukes spit on an Anna Police Offi­cer.  Dukes was also sen­tenced to a con­cur­rent three (3) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions after admit­ting to a Peti­tion for Revo­ca­tion of Pro­ba­tion for the orig­i­nal offense of Theft, a Class 4 Felony.  Dukes was placed on pro­ba­tion in March 2017 for steal­ing items from an Anna church in Feb­ru­ary 2017.  Pro­ba­tion was revoked based upon the new offense.
