Union County Announces Agreement to House Prisoners in Jackson County Jail
Union County Sheriff David Livesay, Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds and the Union County Board of Commissioners announced today that, effective March 11th, the County has reached a four year agreement with Jackson County to house Union County prisoners at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro. In announcing the agreement, county officials noted that the new arrangement will provide additional services to Union County at a competitive fixed cost. New services include additional prisoner transportation and enhanced security at the jail facility. The Sheriff and State’s Attorney also commented that strong relationships with their counterparts in Jackson County will allow for increased coordination regarding joint investigations.
