Charged Filed in Connection with Multiple

Burglaries and Firearms Thefts in Rural Jonesboro

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that charges have been filed against Joshua J. Kelley (DOB 03-19-1985) of 62 Chickasaw Street in East Cape Girardeau, Illinois, Marco A. Dominguez (DOB 05-20-1992) of 209 Oaklane Drive in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Shane L. Shafer (DOB 11-12-1986) of 424 Prime Street in Downing, Missouri in connection with multiple burglaries which occurred on Lingle Creek Road and Old Cape Road in rural Jonesboro on March 1st of this year.

Each defendant is charged with two (2) counts of Aggravated Possession of Stolen Firearms, a Class X Felony and Class 1 Felony, three (3) counts of Residential Burglary, all Class 1 Felonies, and two (2) counts of Theft, both Class 3 Felonies.

Bond for each defendant has been set at $150,000.  Kelley is currently being held in the Tri-County Jail in Ullin on related Alexander County charges.  Dominguez is currently being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail and Shafer is currently being held in Adair County, Missouri with each awaiting extradition to Illinois.

The charges follow an extensive investigation by Captain Scott Harvel and Deputy Bart Hileman of the Union County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the Alexander County and Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Offices.

The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt.  A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
