Jury Finds Cairo Man Guilty of Armed Vio­lence and Armed Habit­u­al Crim­i­nal

 

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Ronald Andrew Hill (DOB 07/24/1980) of Cairo, Illi­nois was found guilty today after a two day jury tri­al on two (2) counts of Armed Vio­lence and one (1) count of Armed Habit­u­al Crim­i­nal, all Class X Felonies.  Hill was arrest­ed in August 2018 by Anna Police fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop in which he was found to be in pos­ses­sion of a loaded hand­gun, cannabis and a con­trolled sub­stance.  A sen­tenc­ing hear­ing has been set for May 31, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Union Coun­ty Cour­t­house in Jones­boro.  Hill faces between 15 and 30 years in prison.

 

The case was inves­ti­gat­ed by the Anna Police Depart­ment with assis­tance from the Jones­boro Police Depart­ment and Illi­nois State Police Foren­sic Sci­ences Com­mand.
