Villa Ridge Man Charged Following Domestic Dispute

Vil­la Ridge Man Charged Fol­low­ing Domes­tic Dispute

 

William A. Kern (DOB 01-24-1979) of 301 Dako­ta Road, Vil­la Ridge in Pulas­ki Coun­ty has been charged fol­low­ing a domes­tic dis­pute at his res­i­dence.  Kern has been charged with one (1) count of Unlaw­ful Pos­ses­sion of Weapon by a Felon, a Class 2 Felony, two (2) counts Aggra­vat­ed Domes­tic Bat­tery, both Class 2 Felonies, one (1) count of Pos­ses­sion of Firearm with­out Req­ui­site Firearm Owner’s I.D. Card, a Class 3 Felony, and one (1) count of Resist­ing a Peace Offi­cer, a Class A Misdemeanor.

 

Kern was arrest­ed on the evening of May 17 after Pulas­ki Coun­ty Sheriff’s Deputies and Illi­nois State Police respond­ed to Kern’s residence.

 

The Union Coun­ty State’s Attorney’s Office has been appoint­ed as Spe­cial Pros­e­cu­tor in the case.  The mat­ter is being inves­ti­gat­ed by the Illi­nois State Police in con­junc­tion with oth­er agencies.

 

The Union Coun­ty State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the pub­lic that charges are not evi­dence of guilt.  A defen­dant is pre­sumed inno­cent and is enti­tled to a fair tri­al in which the gov­ern­ment has the bur­den of prov­ing guilt beyond a rea­son­able doubt.
