Cairo Man Sen­tenced to 20 Years for Armed Vio­lence and Armed Habit­u­al Criminal

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Ronald Andrew Hill (DOB 07/24/1980) of Cairo, Illi­nois has been sen­tenced to twen­ty (20) years in Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions on two (2) counts of Armed Vio­lence and one (1) count of Armed Habit­u­al Crim­i­nal, all Class X Felonies. Hill will also serve three (3) years to life of Manda­to­ry Super­vised Release (for­mer­ly known as Parole). 

Hill was con­vict­ed in March 2019 after a three (3) day jury tri­al. Hill was arrest­ed in August 2018 by Anna Police fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop in which he was found to be in pos­ses­sion of a loaded hand­gun, cannabis and a con­trolled sub­stance. The case was inves­ti­gat­ed by the Anna Police Depart­ment with assis­tance from the Jones­boro Police Depart­ment and Illi­nois State Police Foren­sic Sci­ences Command.
