Jury Finds Anna Man Guilty of Threat­en­ing Police Offi­cer and Resist­ing Arrest

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Rod­er­ick Lynn Hile­man (DOB 06/24/1969) of Anna, Illi­nois was found guilty today after a three (3) day jury tri­al on three (3) counts of Obstruct­ing a Peace Offi­cer, one (1) count of Escape, and one (1) count of Aggra­vat­ed Assault, all Class A Mis­de­meanors.  In the ear­ly morn­ing hours of July 20, 2015, Hile­man threat­ened an Anna Police Offi­cer in the park­ing lot of an Anna busi­ness.  Hile­man then pulled away from police as he was being arrest­ed and fled on foot.  He was arrest­ed fol­low­ing a brief foot pur­suit.  A sen­tenc­ing hear­ing has been set for Novem­ber 30, 2017 at the Union Coun­ty Cour­t­house in Jones­boro.  The Class A Mis­de­meanors car­ry a max­i­mum penal­ty of one year in jail.  The case was pros­e­cut­ed by Assis­tant State’s Attor­ney Daniel Klinge­mann and Assis­tant State’s Attor­ney Kather­ine Bray.
