State’s Attor­ney and Sher­iff Remind Pub­lic to Keep Chil­dren Safe this Hal­loween 

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds and Union Coun­ty Sher­iff David Livesay remind the pub­lic to review the Illi­nois Sex Offend­er Reg­istry when plan­ning Hal­loween trick-or-treat routes.  Under Illi­nois law, any sex offend­er on parole or pro­ba­tion may not par­tic­i­pate in any Hal­loween activ­i­ty involv­ing chil­dren.  This would include leav­ing a porch light on, answer­ing the door or dis­trib­ut­ing can­dy dur­ing trick or treat hours.  There are cur­rent­ly 43 reg­is­tered sex offend­ers liv­ing in Union Coun­ty and par­ents may review the Illi­nois Sex Offend­er Reg­is­ter at   The Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Office will be con­duct­ing a sex offend­er com­pli­ance check on Halloween.
