Two Missouri Residents Charged with Methamphetamine Conspiracy
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Tamatha J. Gottschall (DOB 03/27/1976) and James R. Charles (DOB 03/01/1976), both of 202 Presson Street in East Prairie, Missouri have each been indicted by the Union County Grand Jury on one (1) count of Conspiracy: Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, a Class X Felony, and one (1) count of Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Production, a Class 1 Felony. The two are alleged to have purchased products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine at an Anna retailer on eighty (80) occasions during the years 2012 and 2013 for the purpose of manufacturing methamphetamine. Each is being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro on $100,000 bond. The Indictments follow an investigation by the Union, Jackson and Johnson County Sheriff’s Offices with assistance from the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
