Commissioners shall be composed of five (5) Board Members pursuant to the law and hereinafter shall be referred to as the “County Board.” In the event of any vacancy caused by death, resignation, removal or for any other cause, such vacancy shall be filled according to the Statute in such case made and provided.
(A) 2012 Election.
- At the 2012 General Election, county commissioners shall be elected in the following manner:
- A county commissioner shall be elected to a six (6) yearterm to fill the seat of the county commissioner elected to a four (4) year term at the 2008 General Election to fill an unexpired six (6) year term;
- A county commissioner shall be elected to a six (6) yearterm to fill a new seat;
- A county commissioner shall be elected to a four (4) yearterm to fill a new seat.
- After the 2012 General Election, county commissioners shall be elected to six (6) year terms at each general election to fill expired terms.
(B) Petitions for Specific Term Required.
Where county commissioners are to be elected to fill two (2) or more seats on the board of commissioners at the same general election, candidates for such position shall each file nomination papers for and be nominated for and elected to a specific office. For the purpose of designating specific offices, the five (5) seats on the board of commissioners shall be designated as follows:
- The seat of the commissioner elected to a four (4) year term at the 2008 General Election to fill an unexpired term six (6) year term shall be designated as Seat A;
- The seat of the commissioner elected to a six (6) year term at the 2008 General Election shall be designated as Seat B;
- The seat of the commissioner elected to a six (6) year term at the 2010 General Election shall be designated as Seat C;
- The seat of the commissioner elected to a six (6) year term at the 2012 General Election shall be designated as Seat D;
- The seat of the commissioner elected to a four (4) year term at the 2012 General Election shall be designated as Seat E.
