Code of Ordinances

(A) Loca­tion.  Sales of raf­fle chances shall only be sold at the loca­tions des­ig­nat­ed in the license appli­ca­tion and which are with­in the bor­ders of Union Coun­ty but out­side the bor­ders of any municipality.

(B) Eli­gi­bil­i­ty for License.  Licens­es shall be issued only to:

1. Bona fide reli­gious, char­i­ta­ble, labor, busi­ness, fra­ter­nal, edu­ca­tion­al or vet­er­ans’ orga­ni­za­tions that oper­ate with­out prof­it to their mem­bers and which have been in exis­tence con­tin­u­ous­ly for a peri­od of five (5) years imme­di­ate­ly before mak­ing appli­ca­tion for a license and which have had dur­ing that entire four (4) year peri­od a bona fide mem­ber­ship engaged in car­ry­ing out their objectives.
2. Non-prof­it fundrais­ing orga­ni­za­tions orga­nized for the sole pur­pose of pro­vid­ing finan­cial assis­tance to an iden­ti­fied indi­vid­ual or group of indi­vid­u­als suf­fer­ing extreme finan­cial hard­ship as the result of ill­ness, dis­abil­i­ty, acci­dent or disaster.

(C) Dura­tion of License.

1. Licens­es shall per­mit the appli­cant to issue or sell raf­fle chances only for those dates stat­ed in the license appli­ca­tion, but in no event shall the peri­od of sales exceed one (1) cal­en­dar year.
2. Each license is valid for one (1) raf­fle or a spec­i­fied num­ber of raf­fles to be con­duct­ed dur­ing a spec­i­fied peri­od not to exceed one (1) year.

(D) Max­i­mum Val­ue of Prizes.

1. The aggre­gate retail val­ue of all prizes or mer­chan­dise award­ed by a licensee in a sin­gle raf­fle shall not exceed Two Hun­dred Fifty Thou­sand Dol­lars ($250,000.00).
2. The retail val­ue of each indi­vid­ual prize award­ed by a licensee in a sin­gle raf­fle shall not exceed Two Hun­dred Fifty Thou­sand Dol­lars ($250,000.00).

(E) Price of Chances.  The price charged for each raf­fle chance sold or issued shall not exceed Two Hun­dred Fifty Dol­lars ($250.00).
