Alto Pass Man Convicted of Methamphetamine Production

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that a jury has found John A. Gleghorn (DOB 01-24-1957), formerly of 3200 Bald Knob Road in rural Alto Pass, guilty of one (1) count of Unlawful Participation in Methamphetamine Production, a Class X Felony.  The verdict was delivered today following a two and a half day trial.  The charge carries a penalty of fifteen (15) to sixty (60) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.  A sentencing hearing has been set for June 18, 2013 before Presiding Judge Mark Boie.  Gleghorn is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro without bond.

Gleghorn, acting together with Billy J. Finney (DOB 11-5-1976), engaged in the manufacture of methamphetamine at a residence at 3200 Bald Knob Road in February, March and April of 2012.  Gleghorn and Finney were indicted by a Union County Grand Jury in May of 2012 following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Murphysboro Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.  The Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team also assisted with the investigation.  Finney pleaded guilty in December 2012.
