Cairo Man Sen­tenced to Prison for Aggra­vat­ed Battery

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Loren­zo P. Gold­en (DOB 02/28/1976) of Cairo, Illi­nois has been sen­tenced in the Cir­cuit Court of Alexan­der Coun­ty to three (3) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions to one (1) count of Aggra­vat­ed Bat­tery, a Class 3 Felony.  Gold­en struck a Cairo man in the right hand with a knife in the park­ing lot of a Cairo busi­ness on the evening of Feb­ru­ary 8, 2014.  Gold­en was arrest­ed in Feb­ru­ary 2014 after an inves­ti­ga­tion by Cairo Police.

Gold­en was also sen­tenced to a con­cur­rent term of one (1) year in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions to one (1) count of Dri­ving While License Revoked, a Class 4 Felony.  Gold­en was arrest­ed in Octo­ber 2013 by Illi­nois State Police fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop on Illi­nois Route 3 in rur­al Alexan­der County.

The Union Coun­ty State’s Attorney’s Office was appoint­ed as Spe­cial Pros­e­cu­tor in both matters.
