Cairo Man Sentenced to Prison for Aggravated Battery
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Lorenzo P. Golden (DOB 02/28/1976) of Cairo, Illinois has been sentenced in the Circuit Court of Alexander County to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections to one (1) count of Aggravated Battery, a Class 3 Felony. Golden struck a Cairo man in the right hand with a knife in the parking lot of a Cairo business on the evening of February 8, 2014. Golden was arrested in February 2014 after an investigation by Cairo Police.
Golden was also sentenced to a concurrent term of one (1) year in the Illinois Department of Corrections to one (1) count of Driving While License Revoked, a Class 4 Felony. Golden was arrested in October 2013 by Illinois State Police following a traffic stop on Illinois Route 3 in rural Alexander County.
The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office was appointed as Special Prosecutor in both matters.
