Two Sentenced to Department of Corrections
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced the following sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections:
Byford J. Miller (DOB 06/07/1984) of 2955 Dog Walk Road in rural Anna has been sentenced to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Unlawful Purchase of Methamphetamine Precursor, a Class 4 Felony. Miller was arrested on September 10, 2013 following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office regarding his purchase of pseudoephedrine at a local retailer.
Alfred N. Aukema II (DOB 09/15/1973) formerly of Anna, Illinois has been sentenced to five (5) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 1 Felony. Under Illinois sentencing laws, Aukema must serve at least 85 percent of his sentenced and is subject to a period of Mandatory Supervised Release, formerly known as parole, of three years to life. Aukema was charged in 2011 following a Union County Sheriff’s Office investigation regarding sexual acts committed by Aukema with a minor under the age of 16 years old. He was subsequently arrested in Florida in June 2013 and extradited with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.
