Two Sen­tenced to Depart­ment of Corrections

Union Coun­ty State’s Attor­ney Tyler R. Edmonds announced the fol­low­ing sen­tences to the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Corrections:

Byford J. Miller (DOB 06/07/1984) of 2955 Dog Walk Road in rur­al Anna has been sen­tenced to three (3) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions after plead­ing guilty to one (1) count of Unlaw­ful Pur­chase of Metham­phet­a­mine Pre­cur­sor, a Class 4 Felony.  Miller was arrest­ed on Sep­tem­ber 10, 2013 fol­low­ing an inves­ti­ga­tion by the Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Office regard­ing his pur­chase of pseu­doephedrine at a local retailer.

Alfred N. Auke­ma II (DOB 09/15/1973) for­mer­ly of Anna, Illi­nois has been sen­tenced to five (5) years in the Illi­nois Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions after plead­ing guilty to one (1) count of Crim­i­nal Sex­u­al Assault, a Class 1 Felony.  Under Illi­nois sen­tenc­ing laws, Auke­ma must serve at least 85 per­cent of his sen­tenced and is sub­ject to a peri­od of Manda­to­ry Super­vised Release, for­mer­ly known as parole, of three years to life.  Auke­ma was charged in 2011 fol­low­ing a Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Office inves­ti­ga­tion regard­ing sex­u­al acts com­mit­ted by Auke­ma with a minor under the age of 16 years old.  He was sub­se­quent­ly arrest­ed in Flori­da in June 2013 and extra­dit­ed with assis­tance from the U.S. Mar­shals Service.
