The Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Office is cur­rent­ly accept­ing appli­ca­tions for part-time (with poten­tial of full-time) Telecommunicator/Corrections Offi­cer. Expe­ri­ence is pre­ferred but not required. Appli­ca­tions may be picked up at the Union Coun­ty Sheriff’s Office, Mon­day through Fri­day between the hours of 8 am to 4 pm.

Job Description:

Receive emer­gency and non-emer­gency calls and record sig­nif­i­cant infor­ma­tion. Address prob­lems and requests by trans­mit­ting infor­ma­tion or pro­vid­ing solu­tions. Receive and dis­patch orders for ser­vices. Pri­or­i­tize calls accord­ing to urgency and impor­tance. Use radio, phone or com­put­er to send crews, vehi­cles or oth­er field units to appro­pri­ate loca­tions. Enter data in com­put­ers sys­tem and main­tain logs and records of calls, activ­i­ties and oth­er infor­ma­tion. Book­ing and mon­i­tor con­duct of inmates, accord­ing to estab­lished poli­cies, reg­u­la­tions and procedures.

Qualifications:

Appli­cants must be a min­i­mum of 21 years of age, pos­sess a valid driver’s license and pos­sess a high school diplo­ma or equiv­a­lent GED. Work­ing knowl­edge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Out­look) pre­ferred but not manda­to­ry. Abil­i­ty to work hol­i­days and rotat­ing shifts; which would include days, evenings, and nights. Abil­i­ty to mul­ti task while han­dling emer­gency sit­u­a­tions in a calm and pro­fes­sion­al man­ner. Must pass a back­ground check.
